Feeding Frenzy
I was playing at a online poker tournament this weekend, and I seemed to be at a table full of aggressive poker online players. I ‘m a pretty aggressive player myself, but I like to take my time and watch my poker online opponents bounce off of each other for a while, and this week It really paid off, because I got to see a pretty interesting feeding frenzy. Of the ten players at my table, there were probably seven extremely aggressive players, two passive players, and one very reckless rookie. What ensued for the next hour or so was a pretty gory dismantling of the new guy. The rookie was committing two huge rookie mistakes-he was playing too many hands and he almost never folded when someone bet against him. He was pretty much a cash machine to the entire table. Unfortunately for me, I was on a pretty dry streak, and my opponents were betting like maniacs over his stack. The table dynamic was really interesting-the experienced players didn’t seem to be playing against each other anymore. Instead of trying to knock each other out, they were now fighting over this new guy’s chips. Loosening up their starting hands, they’d bet and raise until one player was in with the rookie, and the rookie would almost invariably lose.
